Audition Notice- “REMEMBER REMEMBER”

We are excited to announce auditions for:

REMEMBER REMEMBER

There is a long history to this play, which we won’t bore you with now. Suffice to say that it has been a very long road to finally bring this play back to stage and we are very excited about it.  This is a World Premiere of a new play titled “REMEMBER REMEMBER “. It is a rewrite of “Penny for the Guy” updated from the original 1980’s into modern days and also to align it closely with the film version which will be made soon. The author, David Soames, is very keen to see it back on stage. You may not have heard of the author, but if I mention that he has written songs for Freddie Mercury, Cliff Richard and Dionne Warwick, to name a few, as well as working with Lord Laurence Olivier, you’ll get an idea of what an achievement this will be for Knutsford Little Theatre.

The original play has only ever been on stage once before, in 1994, for two weeks. It starred Karl Howman and George Sewell. After nearly 30 years we are proud to bring it back on stage after an intensive rewrite by David Soames helped, or hindered, by Sean Duvall.

This is a tense thriller, set in the house of Peter and Jane, both very successful people. When Jane’s daughter brings her boyfriend for a family meal all seems well, until unexpected visitors arrive with sinister intentions. But all is not what it appears and the plot twists and turn as the play progresses.

Audition Notice- “War of the Worlds”

We are excited to announce auditions to be held on Wednesday 8th and Friday 10th February at 19.30 for:

War of the Worlds

After waving goodbye to Beauty and the Beast, we’re straight back into play mode.

Our next performance will be a Radio Play version of the HG Wells classic “War of the Worlds”.

The whole idea is that, if they wish to, the audience can close their eyes and feel immersed by the cast’s voices and the sound effects which will reverberate around the theatre.

Character Synopsis

Written for a cast of 6, 2 women, 4 men, it can be adjusted it necessary. In general there are two main characters, the Man and the Narrator. This is an ideal opportunity to really use your voice to create different characters as the play demands.

Rehearsals

Rehearsals will start on Monday 6th March but will be worked in around the rehearsals for Murdered to Death. Rehearsals will be minimal as they will be used to create the correct vocal balance, link in with the sound effects and to become familiar with the script. Exact rehearsal dates can be fixed on 6th March. Being in War of the Worlds will NOT exclude you from being in Murdered to Death.

Production dates

War of the Worlds will be on stage at Knutsford Little Theatre from Wednesday 22nd March to Saturday 25th March

Audition Notice- “Murdered to Death”

We are excited to announce auditions to be held on Wednesday 15th February and Friday 17th February for:

Murdered to Death by Peter Gordon

Character Synopsis

The characters in Murdered to Death are all deliberately based upon ‘whodunnit’ stereotypes.

Experience over many productions shows that the humour works best when they are played relatively ‘straight’.

Ages are for guidance only and can be varied, provided that the overall balance is maintained.

  • Mildred– Late fifties. Moderately wealthy owner of Bagshot House.
  • Dorothy– Mildred’s niece. Late twenties and rather plain.
  • Bunting– The butler. Sixties. Pedantic and rather creepy.
  • Colonel Charles Craddock– Early sixties. Dresses in tweeds. Confident but blustering.
  • Margaret Craddock– The long-suffering but acerbic wife of Charles.
  • Elizabeth Hartley-Trumpington– Mid twenties. Attractive and stunningly dressed. Very high society.
  • Pierre Marceau– A french art dealer in his early thirties. An exaggerated french accent.
  • Joan Maple– A spinster in her sixties. Amateur sleuth.
  • Constable Thomkins– Young, bright uniformed village policeman.
  • Inspector Pratt– Inept, posing and clumsy.
